Participants may choose between all day (9:30 am – 4:30 pm) or half-day session (either from 9:30 – 12:30 or 1:30 – 4:30).  Morning and afternoon sessions will each include whole-group instruction for all levels and a second period divided into two levels.  Please bring your instruments, music stand and lunch.  Hot and cold beverages will be provided.

About the workshop directors:
 
Judith Linsenberg has been hailed for her “virtuosity,” “expressivity,” and “fearless playing.”  She has performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe, including solo appearances at the Hollywood Bowl and Lincoln Center; and has been featured with such leading American ensembles as the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco and Los Angeles Operas, the Oregon Symphony, LA Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque, American Bach Soloists, the Portland and Seattle Baroque Orchestras, the Oregon and Carmel Bach Festivals, Musica Angelica of Los Angeles, and others.  She is the winner of national performance awards and has premiered several new works for the recorder.  Judy is the director of the Baroque ensemble, Musica Pacifica, whose performances and seven recordings on the Virgin Classics and Dorian labels have received international acclaim.  She has recorded for Virgin Classics, Dorian, harmonia muni usa, Koch International, Reference Recordings, Musical Heritage Society, and Hännsler Classics.  A Fulbright scholar to Austria, she was awarded the Soloist Diploma with Highest Honors from the Vienna Academy of Music.  She is a summa cum laude graduate of Princeton University, holds a doctorate in early music from Stanford University, and has been a visiting professor at the Vienna Conservatory and Indiana University’s Early Music Institute in Bloomington.  She has taught at Stanford, the SF Conservatory, and at early music workshops throughout the United States.
 
Brazilian recorder player Clea Galhano is an internationally renowned performer of early, contemporary and Brazilian music.  Galhano has performed in the United States, Canada, South America and Europe as a chamber musician, collaborating with recorder player Marion Verbruggen, Jacques Ogg, Belladonna, Lanzelotte/Galhano Duo, Galhano/Montgomery Duo, Farallon Quartet and Blue Baroque Band.  As a featured soloist, Galhano has worked with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra conducted by Christopher Hogwood, Nicholas McGegan and Emmanuelle Haim, World Symphony, Milwaukee Baroque and Lyra Baroque Orchestra.  Galhano studied in Brazil, the Royal Conservatory (The Hague), and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, earning a Fulbright scholarship and support from the Dutch government.  As an advocate of recorder music and educational initiatives, she served for six years on the national board of the American Recorder Society and was featured many years as teacher and soloist at Suzuki and AOSA conferences.  A popular teacher and ensemble director, Galhano regularly conducts workshops across the United States, Europe and Brazil.  Currently, Galhano is the Executive Artistic Director of the St. Paul Conservatory of Music and she is on the faculty of Macalester College.  Ms. Galhano has recordings available on Dorian, Ten Thousand Lakes and Eldorado labels, and is artist-in-residence at the prestigious Schubert Club in St. Paul, Minnesota.
