Masterful Renaissance Motets
Playing and singing session for all, led by Mary Springfels and Dan Stillman

Monday, June 18, 7:30 P.M.

Slide Presentation/Lecture — Tom Zajac
Medieval and Renaissance Music Ensembles: What iconography (paintings, woodcuts, sculptures, and other media) can tell us about who performed together and what they sang and played and what it cannot.

After hours event: ad hoc play- and sing-in, or 1-shot “try a new instrument” session led by a member of the faculty, TBA

Tuesday, June 19, 7:30 P.M.

Seminar/Panel Discussion — Med/Ren 2012 faculty
The esteemed faculty members will each speak briefly about his or her instrument(s) or voice type and the importance that it held in early music culture and will demonstrate the qualities and capabilities of each instrument. The second half of the event will be a moderated discussion on the joys and challenges of performing Medieval and Renaissance music, with questions from the workshop participants.

Wednesday, June 20

Evening off for practicing, informal playing sessions, rest and relaxation, dinner out, and/or sightseeing

Thursday, June 21, 7:30 P.M.

The ever popular and always unpredictable Faculty Concert

Friday, June 22, 7:30 P.M.

Theater Project performance — directed by Grant Herreid
Nine Muses, Eight Modes, Seven Planets
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…who knows? You might even participate as an actor, singer, dancer, or player!
