The San Francisco Early Music Society
2008 Baroque Music & Dance Workshop

INFO FOR SINGERS

In addition to the Vocal Masterclasses led by Karen Clark and Chris Fritzsche, every singer will be included in an afternoon ensemble, may participate in chorus led by Bob Worth, and may apply to sing a Baroque aria with Workshop Orchestra on our concerto evening.

This year’s workshop project is selections from Handel’s allegorical oratorio The Triumph of Time and Truth. Handel worked on the first version of this piece when he was in Italy as a young composer and reworked it later in England, shortly before his death. It contains beautiful, delightful instrumental and choral movements, along with great solo arias and duets for all voices with many instrumental combinations

SINGERS are invited to audition for the 5 or 6 solo arias which will be included in the final workshop presentation of this work. Vocal instructors Karen Clark and Chris Fritzsche will hold coached auditions for prospective singers on Sunday, May 11, 2 - 6 pm, at Sonoma State University.  (To cover our costs, there will be a small charge for this session, $25.)

For those who live out of the area and cannot attend, we will be accepting tapes or CD auditions BY MAY 8, 2008.  Send all CDs or tapes to Phebe Craig, 1448 Josephine St., #2, Berkeley, CA  94703.

To reserve a coaching/audition time contact Karen Clark at karenreeclark@earthlink.net or call Phebe Craig at (510) 684-5177.
