Welcome Baroque Enthusiasts!
Join us in a music-packed week of master classes for instrumentalists, singers and dancers; coached ensembles; Baroque orchestra and chorus; and faculty and student concerts. For further highlights, see below and check the website again soon.
Our workshop is designed for both the dedicated amateur and the professional musician. Make music in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Our faculty is made up of well-known performers and specialists in the field of Early Music who are, at the same time, insightful and gifted teachers.
Burney led an interesting and exceedingly active life. He was an organist, teacher, writer, amateur astronomer, and moved in circles where he met the most important musicians of the day. He wrote memoires of his travels to Europe to report on the musical life there, and an important History of Music. Next summer expect the world of Baroque music to be served up in a special way. There will be something for everyone: chamber music, small ensembles with singers, orchestral works, arias, dance, and consort music. We have selected Handel's oratorio, The Triumph of Time & Truth, for our workshop project.

Kathleen Kraft has stepped forward to be co-director. We all know her as our fabulous flutist and flute instructor. Many of you might be surprised to know that she also leads a very active life supporting Sonoma County environmentalist concerns. Her main passion (aside from the Baroque flute) is California native plants and she is an advisor and sits on the board of a number of environmental organizations. For us, Kathleen is interested in making our new home in Sonoma County a huge success by making it more visible for all of northern California.
Mark your calendars now for the SFEMS workshop. Sign-up before May 1 and save!
We look forward to seeing you there!!
