2005 Baroque Music and Dance Workshop
June 19 - 25

SCHEDULE for DANCERS

SUNDAY, June 19

• 2 - 3 pm - Registration
• 3:30 pm - Faculty Concert (free to workshop participants)
• 5 pm -- Dinner
• 6:30 pm -- Opening meeting, followed by auditions for musicians.  After musician auditions, all participants are invited to sing with Jennifer Lane, our choral director

MON. - FRI (June 20-24)

• 9:00-10:30 am --- TECHNIQUE CLASSES FOR ALL LEVELS
  Emphasis on steps & style for feet, heads, & arms; stylistic qualities (phrasing, dynamic, & affect) of the different dance types.
• 10:30-12 noon --- REPERTOIRE
  For intermediate/advanced, practice of dance phrases & musical timing for repertoire dances.  
  For beginners: introduction & practice of floor patterns & step combinations.
• Noon -- Lunch
• 2:00 -3:00 pm --- FEUILLET NOTATION
  (beginners/intermediate & advanced levels)
• 3:00-4:00 pm ----- INDIVIDUAL COACHINGS
  Consultations & dance videos

7:30 pm - Evening Events (free to workshop participants)

• Monday - Lecture on Italian music
• Tuesday - Faculty Concert
• Wednesday - Basic Dance Class - Musicians will join dancers in contradanses using minuet, bourrée & gavotte steps.
• Thursday - Concerto Evening
• Friday - Party & Auction

SATURDAY, June 25

• 9 am -- Student ensemble performances
• Noon -- Brunch
• 12:30-1:30 -- Residents check out from rooms
• 1:30 - Warm up for Final Concert
• 2:30 - Final Performance

Intermediate and advanced participants registered prior to May 20th, 2005, may choose a dance in their repertoire for individual coaching in master class. Music and Feuillet notation for individual dances must be received by June 1, 2005.

Fill out the Workshop Registration Form  & submit it, along with your deposit (please include Credit Card  information) here online.  (If you prefer to use conventional mail, print out the registration form and send it in, along with you deposit to SFEMS, P.O. Box 10151, Berkeley, CA  94709.  Make your check out to SFEMS.

2. Dancers are requested to return the Dance Information Form to Angene Feves.

If you are anticipating signing up for Room and Board at  Dominican University, please note the deadlines for payments.

A cassette tape recorder or Walkman, with earphones for individual practice; tapes, batteries, etc. as needed. Also paper, colored pencils (for Feuillet notation deciphering aids).
