June 2, 2009
Dear board colleagues and members of the SFEMS community,
It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of Harvey Malloy as the new executive director of SFEMS, effective July 1, 2009.
Harvey comes to us with a very strong background in business as well as a passion for early music. He plays the vihuela, lute, and classical guitar, and earlier in his career taught music in the California State University system and developed the applied music (performance) programs in lute, vihuela, and classical guitar at CSU Long Beach.
Harvey is very excited to be joining SFEMS, and he brings a great deal of enthusiasm as well as deep business knowledge to this position. In his business career, Harvey has worked in many different entrepreneurial environments in companies all over the world, serving, for example, as president of TOTO Frontier U.S.A., Inc., the United States subsidiary of the Japanese company TOTO and also as president of Deutsche Steinzeug America, Inc.
And as we welcome Harvey to the SFEMS community, we also honor Robert Jackson for his many years of outstanding service to the organization. Robert has served not only as administrator, from which position he officially retired last August, but in many other capacities as well, ranging from executive director to house manager. More than anyone, Robert has kept SFEMS going, during good times and during some not so good. Robert is also a long-time member of the board, and he will continue to participate in the organization in that capacity as well. Thank you, Robert, for all your years of dedication and service to SFEMS and in helping to keep it alive over all those years!
And welcome, Harvey! We look forward to our new adventure working with you.
